The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, business advocacy, democratic governance, and anti-corruption & ethics.

CIPE and Provincial Business Leaders in Afghanistan Release Report Outlining Plan To Create More Economic Opportunity

Washington, DC -- The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and local business leaders from the Afghan province of Herat just released a Provincial Business Agenda (PBA) report that highlights recommendations for reforms that will reduce corruption, improve security, reduce taxes, increase access to credit, and improve infrastructure. All of these reforms are designed to improve the business climate in the province and create more economic opportunity.

CIPE, PNGWCCI to Open Women’s Business Center, Helping to Give Women Economic Opportunity in Papua New Guinea

WASHINGTON, DC -- In a ground breaking move to empower women in Papua New Guinea, the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and the Papua New Guinea Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PNGWCCI) will establish a Women’s Business Center that provides an array of practical services to businesswomen and to aspiring entrepreneurs of all backgrounds in Port Moresby.

Benefit to All: Implementing the World Trade Organization's Trade Facilitation Agreement

On November 18, CIPE hosted a panel discussion on Capitol Hill on the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, a multi-donor, multi-year, multi-million dollar effort that partners with the private sector to assist with the implementation of the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). CIPE is one of the partner organizations that forms the Global Alliance, along with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Economic Forum, and the International Chamber of Commerce.
