CIPE is a joint leader of the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, which just released its 2022 annual report outlining innovative programs in numerous countries around the globe.
The Alliance report outlines how new forms of public-private partnerships are helping to tackle some of the greatest shared challenges of our time. Among them: food security, global health dangers and disaster preparedness.
As the report indicates, this new kind of trade facilitation work is yielding measurable time and cost savings, while also enhancing transparency and accountability. All of that adds up to increased confidence in processes, such as customs intake and regulatory procedures, that can impact predictability and therefore impede inclusive economic growth if improperly executed.
Strengthening global supply chains by introducing better processes and by cutting red tape may not generate many headlines, but it has never been more urgent. Co-leaders of the Alliance are the International Chamber of Commerce and the World Economic Forum, in cooperation with Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The Alliance is funded by the governments of the United States, Canada, and Germany.
