Access to information and a free media are cornerstones of democracy, yet news outlets worldwide are struggling to balance editorial freedoms with financial independence. Challenges and opportunities in Central Europe are the focus of a high-level conference in Warsaw, Poland hosted by CIPE and the Center for International Media Assistance (CIMA). The October 30 conference will bring together top media executives and key policymakers, as well as leaders in media finance, advertising, and other sectors from across the region to discuss sustainable funding models for independent national and local media. Featured speakers include:
- Ambassador Mark Brzezinski, U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Poland
- Andrew Wilson, Executive Director of CIPE
- Heather Gilberds, Deputy Director of CIMA
Countries represented include Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and the United States. Most events will be public and international audiences are invited to watch via livestream on CIPE’s YouTube channel.
