UNACOIS, CIPE’s longtime partner, made national headlines in Senegal in July, when it hosted a policy forum with Senegal’s President Macky Sall and other key government representatives. UNACOIS members from all regional chapters, as well as from the association’s youth and women’s sections, attended the meeting to highlight their members’ contribution to the country’s national economic strategy, Plan Sénégal Émergent. President Sall reiterated his support for several initiatives that were launched as part of the ongoing consultation, including the modernization of urban markets and the establishment of a preferential loan facility for women and young entrepreneurs. UNACOIS is Senegal’s largest association of small and informal businesses, with tens of thousands of members across the country. CIPE is helping UNACOIS to better defend its members’ interests by engaging the government on key policy reforms.
