Watch: “Economic and Political Freedom Are Essential” How CIPE Works to Achieve Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Middle East & North Africa

Despite significant progress in education and entrepreneurship, women in the Middle East & North Africa face challenges limiting their full economic participation. From amplifying women’s voices in Morocco to forming coalitions in Jordan for improved access to finance, CIPE’s local partners work to ensure women have a seat at the table to make decisions that matter most. Our partners’ efforts aim to create an inclusive environment to enable economic and political freedom that is essential for universal prosperity.

MENA programs form part of CIPE’s foundational approach to women’s economic empowerment at its Center for Women’s Economic Empowerment (CWEE). CWEE promotes women’s leadership and strengthens community and global networks of women to advocate for democratic reforms, facilitating more resilient and inclusive economies. CIPE programs seek impact at three levels:

  1. Personal Empowerment: to provide space for businesswomen to develop entrepreneurial mindsets and leadership skills.
  2. Community Building: to facilitate networking opportunities, collaborative spaces, and coalitions for advocacy. And
  3. Institutional Reform: to change the business environment to lower barriers and support policies that promote equity.
