Job creation and poverty reduction is arguably the biggest problem facing the world today. With the post-2015 development agenda about to be finalized, CIPE hosted a timely discussion on the role of the private sector in multi-stakeholder efforts to achieve the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainable development and poverty eradication are primary objectives of the SDGs. Drawing on the resources of all stakeholders, including the private sector, will be crucial for addressing impediments to sustainable development. The panelists talked about how providing economic opportunity for individuals is a key tool in fighting poverty and defeating terrorism and addressed how the SDGs can reduce poverty by promoting the creation of small to medium-sized businesses.
