David Hinson has more than 25 years of executive and senior management experience. He is currently Senior Vice President of Ategra Capital Management, providing wealth management and financial advisory services to executives, business owners and families.
Previously he served as President of Brookland Capital Partners, a finance and strategic consulting company that provides specialty finance, capital acquisition and organizational development services primarily to small- and middle-market businesses, and non-U.S governmental entities.
Prior to launching this company, David was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), a U.S. Department of Commerce agency focused on increasing the global competitiveness of the nation’s 8 million minority-owned and operated business. In that role, he created trade ecosystems in Latin America, Australia, Europe and Africa. David served on the China Taskforce, Haitian Reconstruction Committee, White House Business Council, and the President’s Interagency Taskforce on Small Business Contracting.
David received an MBA in finance from The University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, and a bachelor’s degree in Insurance and Finance from Howard University. He completed graduate-level studies in French at Université Félix Houghouët-Boigny in the Ivory Coast, West Africa. He serves as an advisor to Devlab Ventures SA, Chile Outlier Seed Fund I, a Chile-based private equity fund, and the Board of the Mission Society of New York.
