Laura Escalante is an international trade specialist and Lead Program Manager at CIPE.
She is responsible for the design, implementation, evaluation, multi-stakeholder management and supervision of modernization projects led by CIPE as part of the Global Alliance Trade Facilitation.
Prior to joining CIPE, Laura worked as a trade, customs and security consultant with emphasis on Latin America. She worked for more than 10 years in the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, negotiating agreements with trade and customs authorities of the United States, the European Union, China, Peru, among other countries and multilateral forums. She also managed border modernization, interagency and regional programs on trade facilitation and competitiveness.
Laura holds a Bachelor on International Relations and Trade from the National University of Costa Rica and an MA in International Law and Dispute Settlement from the UN Mandated University for Peace. She is PMP certified.
