Sobir Kurbanov is a Program Director for Central Asia at the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), where he develops and leads programs to advance private sector-led advocacy, good governance norms, and facilitates cross-regional collaboration in Central Asia.
With more than 20 years of experience, Sobir has honed his expertise in international development. Prior to his role at CIPE, he worked as a Country Officer at the World Bank in Tajikistan and later as a consultant at World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he worked with the public and private sector in Eurasia on topics such as competition policies, public sector and corporate governance, investment climate reform, policy dialogue, and fiscal transparency.
Sobir holds a degree in Economics from Tajik National University in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and a Masters of Science in Economic Policy and Management from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland with a focus on public sector economics and international finance. He is a native speaker of Tajik and Russian and speaks English fluently.
